What plastic-free means, and what it does not
Most paper cups are lined with a thin layer of polyethylene so they hold liquid. Visstun's plastic-free cups skip that lining, and Visstun rates them compostable and recyclable in locations with the right facilities. That last part matters: many curbside programs and backyard compost piles still do not accept paper cups of any kind, so check with your hauler, venue or campus before you print a compostable claim on the cup.
Size for size, the plastic-free cups cost about the same as Visstun's standard poly-coated cups, and they share the same minimums and print area, so switching is rarely a budget question.
Minimums and production time
Plastic-free drink cups and double wall cups start at 500 pieces (480 for the 21 oz double wall); plastic-free containers start at 1,000. Production is 11 to 16 business days after proof approval depending on the size, plus shipping from Las Vegas.
Frequently asked questions
Are paper cups compostable?
Standard paper cups are not, because of their plastic lining. Visstun's plastic-free cups have no plastic lining and are compostable where facilities accept them; many local programs still do not, so check locally.
